Tonkin discovery – 6 days

Day 1 : Arrive in Hanoi ( Diner )



Reception at the airport upon arrival and transfer to the hotel.

One-hour cyclo ride through the old town of the city.

Dinner in a converted French Villa Vietnamese style.,

Overnight at hotel 3 stars.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day 2 : Hanoi City Tour - Lao Cai : ( B/L/D )  


City Tour : Visits to the Mausoleum and house of the late President Ho Chi Minh, the former residence of Governor General of Indochina, the One-Pillared Pagoda, Pagodas Tran Quoc, Quan Thanh and West Lake, the Temple of Literature dedicated to Confucius, the Museum of Ethnography, Sword Lake (Ho Guom), Ngoc Son temple and then a stroll through the interesting streets of the old town of the city. 

After dinner, transfer to Hanoi train station for the soft sleeper train to Sapa. 
Overnight trip to Lao Cai in sharing comfortable sleeping cabin . The train departs approx. 8:40 P.M.

 

Day 3 : Lao Cai - Periodic Market  - Sapa ( B/L/D )



 
Arrival in Lao Cai and by car to visit a typical periodic markets of Ethnic Minority groups (High Tonkin):

TUE : Coc Ly Market ,

WED: Cao Son Market ,

FRI : Lung Khau Nhin Market ,

SAT: Can Cau Market ,

SUN :  Bac Ha Market .

There is the most wonderful and colorful market in extreme north Vietnam where thousands of local people in their traditional attires busily buy and sell the local produces. Dog, cat, pig, horse... are all on sales. This is a golden opportunity to take the best shots  and more importantly a wonderful opportunity to interact with friendly local people ...,  Here visitors can meet colorful Flower H’mong people, plus Nung, Dzao Tuyen, Tu Di and a number of other ethnic groups such as the Thu Lao, the Pa Di, the La Chi .  Lunch at local restaurant.

Drive back to Laocai, and  then further on winding roads up to the mountains leading to Sapa.

Dinner and overnight at hotel Sapa Holidays 3 stars or Similar

 

Day 4  : SAPA VILLAGES - Hanoi ( B/L/D )



 
Breakfast at the hotel. Trekking on a lovely walks that will take us along rice fields and villages trails and through several hill tribe villages of   Lao Chai and Tavan, home to H'mong, and Dzay people. This is an absolutely spectacular walk through stunning scenery inhabited by some of the friendliest people you can meet.  Once on the valley floor you can really appreciate the wonderful scenery that surrounds you. The walls of the valley are covered with multi-layered rice terraces and scattered villages. Opportunity to visit and see the local weaving and dying used natural indigo dye. Picnic lunch provided. 17 h 00 transfer to the Lao Cai Railway Station for the soft sleeper train back to Hanoi. Overnight trip in sharing comfortable sleeping cabin .

 

 

DAY 5:  Hanoi- HALONG BAY EXCURSION (B,L,D)



After breakfast,  transfer to Halong Bay, which will take about 3 hours. Arrival in  Halong bay and then  boarding  your Junk  to cruise around Halong bay and soak in the misty atmosphere of this world heritage site. Halong bay is a breathtaking secluded bay with over 3,000 limestone islands rising from the clear emerald waters of the Tonkin gulf. It is one of the most magnificent scenic regions in Vietnam and has been referred to as the 8th Wonder of the World. The area of about 1500sq km is dotted with innumerable beaches and grottoes, created over thousands of year by the waves and wind. You will have the opportunity to swim from your boat and exre some caves. You will enjoy a seafood feast for lunch on board. We will continue our excursion around this stunning bay until the sun comes down. 
Diner and Overnight on Junk. Private and  comfortable cabin .  

 

DAY 6: HALONG BAY - Peinting Village Dong Ho- DEPARTURE ( B,L)  


We have a whole morning on Junk  exploring the amazing limestone backdrops. We are treated to a seafood lunch before drive to visit Peinting Village Dong Ho and Pagoda But Thap in Bac Ninh Province , then transfer to airport Noi Bai for your flight home today.
